About the Office of All Campus Commuter Board

ACCB is an AS commission that serves as a council with the aim of maintaining a vibrant community for commuter students, and fostering a connection with on campus life. In this capacity we act as an advocacy voice for all students that live off campus and maintain the commuter community, both campus wide as well as between the individual colleges.

Goals and Projects for 2017-18

  • To maintain a community for students that do not live on campus
  • To advocate for the commuter community
  • To plan and coordinate all-campus events targeting commuter students
  • To serve as an outreach and advocacy service to improve commuter life on campus

Chair

  • Determine the time and location of the weekly ACCB meetings on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
  • Chair the weekly ACCB meetings open to all commuter students.
  • Plan, run and set the ACCB meeting agenda, including but not limited to:
    • 1. Roll Call
    • 2. Old Business
    • 3. New Business
    • 4. Announcements
    • 5. Adjournment
  • Shall possess a general knowledge of the duties of each ACCB officer and provide guidance accordingly.
  • Shall help transition ACCB officers into their respective positions.
  • Shall serve as the official spokesperson of the ACCB.
  • Shall develop an annual budget with the Director of Finance subject to approval of the AS Council Spring Quarter.
  • Shall collaborate with ASUCSD, college councils, college commuter associations, and other student organizations to provide unique events and activities for commuter students
  • Shall plan, coordinate, and execute events and activities on behalf of ACCB with the assistance of its officers and members
  • Shall keep college commuter associations, students and the greater UCSD community informed of commuter events and issues.
  • Shall work in collaboration with the other officers and college representatives to publicize events.
  • Shall formulate a strategy to further increase awareness of the commission to commuters
  • Work with VC External to facilitate next year’s officer appointments
  • Create networks with other org Chairs/Presidents and Staff
  • Attend AS meetings

Vice Chair Internal

  • Shall assist the Chair in all of their duties.
  • Shall be responsible for the oversight of the duties of all other board members.
  • Shall work closely with the Financial Coordinator in budgeting and costs.
  • Shall assist the Chair in coordinating and TAP events.
  • Take care of administrative duties such as binders, print-outs, contacts, calendars, etc.
  • Work on the leadership skills and general morale of the board
  • Encourage board members to work together, get along and be honest with each other
  • Check in with all officers to make sure nobody is burnt out or feeling unwelcomed
  • Conduct staff development exercises
  • Organize and maintain the ACCB office (including the wall calendar)
  • Try to keep an open mind and remain unbiased during discussions
  • Maintain confidentiality (especially about personal matters)
  • Keep track of leaves of attendance, absences and resignations
  • Work on the Buddy (mentor/mentee) System with the Retention Coordinator

Vice Chair External

  • Shall assist the Chair in all of their duties.
  • Shall be responsible for the oversight of the duties of all other board members.
  • Shall work closely with the Financial Coordinator in budgeting and costs.
  • Shall assist the Chair in coordinating and TAP events.
  • Serve as a liaison to the UCSD Transportation Policy Committee.
  • Work in conjunction with the office of Commuter Student Services.
  • Hold ACCB town forums, as necessary, to garner the opinions and ideas of commuter students.
  • Address and work on concerns from UCSD and the greater UCSD community.
  • Reach out to non-commuter organizations to promote integration in other organizations for commuter students
  • Network with other UCSD student organizations by   
    • keeping these organizations updated with ACCB events
    • being informed of each organization’s events
  • Establish and maintain connections with organizations outside of UCSD
  • Make ties with the San Diego community and organizations (i.e. local business to facilitate off campus events or on campus catering)
  • Update the board and the attendees on events happening in the community

 

Director of Finance

  • Shall assist the Chair and Vice Chair Internal/External in coordinating the budget for each quarter
  • Shall be responsible for the oversight of the budget and costs of purchases overall and archiving them
  • Shall be responsible of reimbursements if necessary.
  • Shall work with the Chair and Vice Chair Internal/External in approving or reforming spending on supplies and materials for events in terms of costs and logistics.
  • Act as a resource for all officers for TAP and funding resources
  • In charge of buying and organizing ACCB merchandise

Director of Marketing

  • Shall assist the Vice Chairs in coordinating Marketing techniques.
  • Shall be responsible for handling Marketing logistics with campus marketing resources (flyers, posters, display cases, table tents etc…).
  • Shall work closely with the Financial Coordinator in regards to marketing costs.
  • Shall oversee and work with the Social Media Coordinator with their duties.
  • find new and creative ways to get ACCB out there
  • mainly work on offline/paper-based tasks such as publicizing for ACCB in the form of posters, flyers and/or tabling, etc.

Director of Communications and Social Media

  • Shall be responsible for managing all Social Media Sites for ACCB and update them regularly. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc..)
  • Shall be responsible for updating and handling the ACCB Main Website including the calendar, announcements, pictures, etc.
  • Shall be responsible for creating Social Media Event Advertisements when necessary.
  • work mainly on online/computer based tasks such as sending out emails about upcoming events
  • Compile the contact info of ACCB attendees
  • Make sign-in sheets for meetings and events
  • Send out bi-weekly ACCB emails to the general body through MailChimp
  • Use good judgment about what content is acceptable to put up

Programming Coordinator

  • Shall assist the Vice Chair External in all of their duties.
  • Collaborate with ASUCSD, college councils, college commuter associations, and other student organizations to provide unique events and activities for commuter students.
  • Prepare a quarterly events calendar for the ACCB and a campus-wide commuter calendar with events and activities sponsored by the other commuter organizations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events and activities on behalf of ACCB with the assistance of its officers and members.
  • Help ensure against duplication of efforts between college commuter organizations, and facilitate combination of resources when necessary, possible and appropriate.

Retention Coordinator

  • Shall assist the Vice Chair Internal in all of their duties.
  • Manage Buddy System program
  • Plan academic retention activities (study jams)
  • Data entry (tracking as it pertains to programs)
  • Program reports
  • Consistently track and evaluate the effectiveness of all activities/events
  • Plan study jams at least once a quarter

Administrative Affairs

 

  • Document events, programs, and activities for future boards with digital and physical media in an organized fashion (may collaborate with Marketing and Social Media)
  • Archive any evaluations of ACCB events, programs and activities
  • Create an annual collaborative Facebook album on the UCSD ACCB Facebook Page and Group and work the Social Media Coordinator in updating images on the ACCB main website
  • Make sure photos are accessible to everyone
  • Maintain, organize and update ACCB google drive database

Social Coordinator

  • Minimum 2 other non-traditional events per quarter
  • Work closely with VC internal in planning social events for commuter to mingle
  • In charge of compiling and researching off-campus restaurants, events in la jolla, popular eating

Transportation & Housing Liaison

  • Communicate transportation services and HDH regarding updates and plans to release to the public or projects to collaborate on
  • Bi-weekly updates (or whenever received)
  • Assist in providing related information to commuters through website updates and social media posts (work with Director of Social Media & Communications)
